TEAMSTERS APPROVE EARLY END TO FEDERAL RESTRICTIONS.(Business)

The Teamsters Union, chafing under federal restrictions that require prior approval of minute items, such as the souvenirs and menu for a "women's lunch" for 3,000 spouses, voted Monday for an early end to those restrictions.

But the 1,911 delegates still faced handcuffs of another sort at their convention and these came from their own union.

Every time delegates enter the convention floor, their credentials are scanned and their presence is logged onto a computer. If they're absent too often, they won't be paid for travel and other expenses.
